Quintessential Book 1: Iris

Iris couldn’t ignore these nightmares any longer. It was time she did something about it. 

At birth, the Trevino quints were each born with a disability. To keep their babies safe, Eira and Erik Trevino decided to move the family to Pentessence, the protected island owned by their ancestors for over a century.

Iris, the oldest quint by five minutes, is a strong willed independent child who hates being treated differently just because she has a disability. However, her mother is constantly reminding her that she is not normal and needs to be protected. At 10, Iris was finally sick and tired of being treated like a baby so she ran away from home. Unable to find her way back, Iris has been living on her own deep in the forest for nearly 3 years now. Time has flown by, but now Iris must return home to find answers to strange things that have been happening. What she finds leads her to more questions than answers. She is about to learn a family secret that will change her life forever.

Quintessential Book 2: Kai

“Dear Universe, Please don’t take Kai. He is the kindest, most caring person. Please take me instead. Let Kai live.” Iris pleaded, shaking and sobbing uncontrollably.

Birthdays are full of surprises, but this birthday has been life changing for the Trevino quints. Family secrets revealed, special gifts, and a deadly bite!

Never in her wildest nightmares did Iris ever imagine that she would be rushing back to the creek behind her house late on her 13th birthday. She was racing the clock to get the one plant that could save Kai’s life. He had been stung by a Shiny Phoenix Wasp and the poison was spreading through his body. Obstacle after obstacle threatens to keep Iris from making it back in time. She can not, will not fail, for Kai’s sake! Not to mention, her mother has never believed she could do things on her own, and she is not about to give her the satisfaction of being right. Will Iris make it in time? What other surprises will she learn along the way? Only time will tell.

Quintessential Book 3: Egan

“CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? I NEED HELP NOW!” Egan yelled, panicking more and more with each step he took.

Forest fires, mudslides, and surprises, oh my! Catastrophes are afoot on Pentessence. Ever since the quints turned thirteen, disasters seem to follow them! If they don’t learn to control their emotions, which are tied to their powers, soon they may not have an island left to live on. 

As the quints overcome one obstacle after another more Trevino family secrets are revealed, much to everyone’s surprise. The teens must learn important lessons and right their wrongs, much to the chagrin of Egan. 

Will Egan learn to control his anger before it is too late? Will curiosity kill the proverbial cat? Will the family on the other side of the island discover the Trevinos?
