All About Me

All About Me- Mrs. Rector

Here is a little bit about me. I was born in Mitchell, South Dakota. When I was four, my Dad bought a mechanic shop in Battle Creek, Nebraska so we loaded up the car and moved to Battle Creek. We lived in Sandy Beach trailer court just outside of town. I went to school at Battle Creek Public from kindergarten all the way through to my senior year. When I was in fourth grade we moved into town. After I graduated from high school I went to Northeast Community college in Norfolk, Nebraska for a year. Then I took a few years off from school and I got married to my High School sweetheart, Lance, and had a son. In 1998, we moved to Omaha and I went back to college at Dana College in Blair to become a teacher.  I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in 2002 and was hired by LPS to work at Sheridan Elementary. I then went on to work at Dawes Middle School, Scott Middle School, back to Dawes, which felt like home. While at Dawes I went back to college on Grant money from LPS and received my Masters Degree in Historical Arts through Nebraska Wesleyan. I worked for 11 years at McPhee in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I finished my 18th year of teaching,  and I have started a new journey. I am working part time at a video tagging job and tutoring students after school. I am also writing books that I hope to get published soon. I am a lifelong learner and I love to instill that excitement of learning in my students as well.
